Ground-plane diameter
Posted By Glenn Borkenhagen on 3/12/2001 at 8:27 PM

Could someone please tell me the outside diameter of the ground plane on the Ashtech Geodetic L1/L2 GPS antenna, such as used with the Z-12 receiver?

Many thanks!

Glenn,

You request needs to be more specific...

All Ashtech GPS Antennas have a Part Number & Serial Number
sticker on the underside of the antenna.

If you can supply a specific Ashtech Antenna Part Number,
Ashtech Technical Support will be able to provide the Radius & Electrical Phase Center Data. (Mechanical Phase Center Data also).

Without the specific Ashtech Part Number, this can be hit or miss. Ashtech has manufactured several L1/L2 Geodetic Antennas.

Bob -

Sorry I did not provide the Ashtech Part Number of the antenna.

The information I have been provided indicates the antenna is Ashtech P/N 700718, described as dual-frequency geodetic GPS antenna. It was manufactured around 1995.

Glenn,

Thanks for providing the Ashtech P/N for this L1/L2 Antenna.

The Raduis for the P/N 700718 Antenna is 0.1737m. To compute the Diameter, simply double the Radius Value.

Mike Margolis's Post for the NGS/NOAA GPS Antenna Calibration page can supply you with a history of all the Ashtech Antennas' Electrical Phase Center Data.
