cows, birds, and Locus

Problem:
I've had to pass up several good sites lately for GPS stations, due to cows in the pasture.
Solution:
I plan to buy a little battery powered electric fence rig and some little rods to drive into the ground in a triangle to keep the cows back.

Problem 2:
The dang birds keep using my Locus for an outhouse, and stopover point on each trip from their nest to get food.
I think it's about 1 or 2 stops per trip. (1 going and 1 comming.)

Solution:
Well, I just wondered if there was any such thing as a battery operated motion sensor alarm available.
I've got one of those lights at my house that detects motion, and turns on the light in my yard.
IF I had one of that type of motion sensors, mounted on a post near Locus, and pointed at the Locus, and whenever it sensed motion (birds)in it's sensory range, it alarmed for 30" that would do it!
Where can I find such a thing??
anybody?

Thanx

Maybe you could attach a plastic owl to some part of the tripod below the plane of the antenna?

I live in Califormia, and I've also seen shiny metallic ribbon tied to grape vines. I guess the theory is that birds see the movement of the shiny object blowing in the breeze.

Good luck,
