Almanac File Dates Different
Posted By Jim Littlefield, Jr. on 7/20/2002 at 2:03 PM

When I download my Locus files, the suffix on all the files are for the day of the year that the observations were made. However, when I download the almanac file for the same set of data for any given day, the suffix for the almanac file is always two days ahead of the data files. Example: if the data files end in *.196 then the almanac file ends in *.198. Anybody know why?
Thanks in advance,
Jimbo

To have an almanac file with a "future" Julian date is not uncommon. I think the almanac is "published" every few days, and the one you receive is the most current.
Try this. In mission planning, print a time session with the current almanac and then using the same parameters print one from an almanac not more than say 60 days old. Put one on top of the other and hold them up to a light. Bet you won't find much difference.

Jim--from what I understand of the problem is that there is a glitch in the firmware which causes the wrong date to appear on the downloaded almanac file. It causes no problems for the data processing, just confusion for the user.
