Intallation of software on Windows XP
Posted By Jeff Heck on 5/20/2002 at 10:51 AM

Received copy of updated processor software for Locus System from Hayes Instruments. Installation disk says software if for Windows 95,98 and NT. I am running Windows XP. Any compatibility problems that I should know about?

Hi:

With Solutions 2.40 or 2.50 the only issue we've come across is that the Rainbow sentinel driver 5.392 will need to be installed.

I am using Ashtech Solutions on my WindowsXP Home Edition computer at home. I have not had trouble doing so.

Some new portable computers are being sold with no com ports. The adapters to turn a USB port into a serial port do not seem to be working on all of these computers with XP.

You may want to make sure any new computer you order has com ports.

i am fairly new to using gps. i purchased a locus system about 6 months ago and had few problems on my desktop downloading the results. i purchased a laptop to download in the field. this new laptop has the windows xp professional software. when i downloaded in the field, one of my points showed that it failed. under vectors it showed that one of the legs failed and floated. when i download it on my desktop, it works fine. i did this four times on both the laptop and the desktop with the same results. i found in one of the manuals where this software was not tested on the xp system. hope someone knows how to fix this, thanks.
