Is it possible to get a more accurate solution processing CORS data by naming the antenna type instead of listing it as unknown in the Ashtech Solutions program? And if so, what would be the correct antenna type in AS for the Trimble Antenna Type : TRM29659.00 Serial Number : 0220256857?
CT,
I was about to submit my method of using CORS data with Locus and ProMark2 units, which would be L1 only. Then, considered you may actually be referring to L1/L2 stuff. Which is it you're talking about?
JD-Using Locus units. Thanks.
CT
I'll make a suggestion then, for what its worth.
Use the L1 Phase Center position of the CORS site (as published), with "unknown antenna type", and HI (Vertical) 0.00. Then solve for the ARP position of your Locus unit by using HI (Vertical) 0.00.
If you're using a fixed height pole and tripod setup this procedure would probably be standard practice with Ashtech Solutions. Using standard tripods and tribrachs will require a bit of calculation to work out your input value for HI. I use this method to avoid fooling with all the various antenna types for the CORS sites. One way or the other, you're gonna have to input some additional data.
Carl,
Click on the CORS station in your time line, the click on the box with three dots next to the ANTENNA TYPE, and create a new one. Enter the following, I pulled these #s off the NGS Antenna site, they should be correct.
Antenna Radius: 0.1905
Slant Height... : 0.035
L1 Phase: 0.1098
L2 Phase: 0.128
Missed you in Akron a couple of weeks ago.
Mike--thanks much for the post. Since CORS data has just become available in Ohio thru ODOT I'm trying to get up to speed in its use. It sure cuts the learning curve by having you, JD and the many other contributors here. Thanks to all and to Ashtech/Thales for this great asset.
I had every intention of making Akron, but had a client who made other plans for me--it seems to happen that way. Sorry I missed ya--hopefully next year. Thanks Mike.
Carl
Mike,
I see the information that you gave for the antenna and I need to get the same information for several CORS sites in California. I've searched the NGS site and can't find any information about antennas. Can you send the link?
Thanks a lot.
Peggy
Here ya go! :)

Peggy:
In case Kelly's links don't provide the information required, look at the logfiles for the particular CORS sites for antenna type and history. Logfiles are available on the standard CORS download page and are included in the data obtained from the UFCORS page.
