I currently own 2 Topcon Hiperlites, and 1 Promark3. I generally run static observations on my larger projects to put them, on the grid, and establish good solid control.
I am seriously considering purchasing a second Promark3 to add in the mix, and help with some more redundency in my static operations.
For those much more versed in the GPS than myself, how much would that 4th receiver add, and would it be money well invested?
I currently use GNSS solutions to post process my vectors.
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jimmy
2 receivers = 1 vector
3 receivers = 3 vectors
4 receivers = 6 vectors
5 receivers = 10 vectors
More is always better.
Take into account geometry and manpower, at some point more may not be better logistically.
Agreed. Keep your sessions designed so the PM3's are running for shortest vectors = shortest time needed. I ran a crew of 3 with 4-5 dual-freq ZX's and 1 ZSurveyor and we covered an area of ~ 600 miles for static control in about 3.5 days of field obs. (Brett and I worked on a few of these together back in "the day").
But, yes, 4 receivers will double your vectors, give you more redunandcy and offer better network geometry potential for PP.
Cheers,
Ben
Take into account non-trivial vectors...
