I use Z-12s for ground base stations when doing airborne GPS. I am wanting to split the signal from one antenna into two receivers so I can collect data at two different rates. Has anyone done that before and is there any compromise to the signsl strength?
Larry,
You can obtain high-quality L-band splitters designed for use with GPS from

There will be some signal loss, but not enough to cause a problem. Keep your cable runs as short as possible. It is important to use a splitter designed specifically for GPS signals. We use them constantly in testing GPS receivers.

Thanks for the tip Brian.
Has anyone ever used one to supply an L1 only GPS with L1L2 signal? I'm guessing it depends on the quality of the front end in the L1 only GPS. Would like to score some other systems.
