There are several versions of the reference manual in different areas of the Magellan site.
Which version should one use with the ProFlex500 and the MMCX?
The ProFlex User Manual has references to FAST Survey setup in it specific to the receiver.
I am aware of that, but I always try to read the reference manuals.
There are several copies of this manual with different revision dates, number of pages, etc.
There is none in the Proflex500 section.
Luis,
Download the ProFlex 500 Getting Started Guide PDF and beginning on Pg 27, you'll see FAST Survey setup procudes specific to the ProFlex.
The technical reference manual for FAST Survey will be the same for Stake-out, Roading, etc, etc. for software use. All you need is specifics for setting up comm links to the ProFlex, or whatever receiver, which are listed in the receivers reference manuals, typically.
Everything you say is fine, but I always like to know what I am doing. I like to understand the procedures, the logic and the way things work.
I think that you should always read the reference manuals to get a better knowledge of the theory.
That is the way I learned when studding surveying and engineering.
I couldn't agree with you more and wish many others in the world shared your approach of cracking open a user's manual while they're charging their receiver's batteries for the first time...

The FAST Survey ref manual (Ver 2.3) is on the Magellan FTP site:
ftp://ftp.promagellangps.com/Land Survey/FAST Survey/Manuals/Fast Survey 2.3/
Today the only valid FAST Survey Reference Manual for all Magellan Professional products is Rev B. The revision index is printed in small characters at the foot of the back cover (P/N 630884-B). The front cover page indicates that the manual is valid only for ProMark 500 and Z-Max.Net. This is wrong. In fact it is valid for all Magellan Professional products. This will be corrected ASAP. I would recommend readers to go to page 2/643 and read the content of the "Important Notice" frame to understand what the content of the manual really is. As Ben put it, all settings specific to a particular receiver are discussed in the relevant Getting Started Guide or Reference Manual, and not necessarily in the FAST Survey Reference Manual.
