Is it normal for the sites to not have the navigation files (S-file) once the sp3 is available ? Or is it just my bad luck to hit a coupla sites that operate like this ???

If they remove the S-file why ???

Jimbo:

In the day's RINEX directory at the CORS ftp site, you'll find nav files with the prefix brdc- (broadcast). Those are the daily files that are identical for all stations. If your software wants them to have a name that is similar to the obs file for your station, you just need to rename the generic brdc- file.

Ashtech Solutions 2.5 apparently has to find a .xxn file with the same name as the .xxo file (and in the same directory) in order to import RINEX data. That means making as many copies of the same brdc*.xxn navigation file and you have observation files, and renaming them accordingly.

It's a bit of a nuisance, but I've gotten used to it.

Note to Ashtech regarding Solutions updates: The way TGO handles this is by listing all the selected RINEX observation files next to a drop-down list box for selection of the corresponding nav file. That way you can just pick the same brdc*.xxn file for each one instead of creating copies of the file. It's a much handier method, in my opinion.
