SPACE WEATHER - ORGI 2
Posted By J.D. Billings on 2/3/2002 at 10:44 AM

In general it appears we had decent space weather during the period from 0000 - 1500 UTC on 02.034. The Kp index was 2 or below through the period. There were no flares indicated by the X-ray flux chart. Also no indication the coronal hole caused any increase in solar wind. Solar wind stayed around 400km/s which is normal.

It will be advisable to check the TEC chart when the map for the period comes available. Everyone's location will be different on the TEC conditions.

For 2/03/2002 with the exception of the period from 3-6hrs UTC where the K index rose to 2.

K index records

If it hadn't been for the old pimple on the Sun, the space weather would have been incredible.

According to the animated map available through the noaa website covering the time period of the 02.034 O.R.G.I. session, the TEC should pose no problems. The time period between 0500 and 1300 appeared especially calm. The map lit up like a forest fire after about 1500 UTC though.
