locus weatherworthiness?

Anyone know how well the locus stands up in the rain? Is it as durable as a "waterproof" total station? I didn't find anything in the operation manual on this.
thanks,
terry

I suppose that eliminates the idea of using the 2 meter pole for the 10 meter lake bottom survey.....

Maybe some waterproof tin foil smeared with a healthly dose of catfish dough.

i have used my receivers in the rain many times with good results.

The top half of the Locus is weather proof, (Antenna & combined receiver).

In a driving rain storm, if exposed to prolonged exposure, the Locus battery compartment might possibly accumulate a very small of water inside the battery compartment. If your Locus unit gets rain exposed, open up the battery compartment and absorb any moisture & then leave the battery compartment open to allow complete evaporation.

If this moisture is left unchecked, electrolysis may occur between the batteries and the contacts in the plastic battery housing. This may cause the Locus receiver not to power on.

We have rec'd isolated reports of this occurance. In such rare cases, a replacement Locus battery housing was provided to the Customer.

PS - keep your Locus receivers out of the pool...
