I have a 22mb JPG file that GNSS Solutions converts into a 90mb TIF file that I am trying to upload.
The file takes a long time to upload as you can imagine. It goes through some % upload messages that look odd
- does the initial convert very quicly then starts uploading but stalls at 23% - waits there for an eternity - then starts counting again - unfortunately I stopped watching when it got to about 5% which took about 1% per 45seconds - within 5 minutes it looked as though it had finished.
Loked in the PM3 - selected the file
But it doesn't show up
Hope someone can help

Alan
Here is some of the best advice I have seen yet.
http://www.magprogps.com/ms/PM3_RTK/FAQ_PM3_RasterImages.pdf
Phil,
I have read that pdf before.
The only reason I haven't used the Raster2GeoTIFF Software was because I don't know the answers to the Geo Reference info they ask for
Below is the Geo Ref info for my map
If you can tell me how the Pixel and Line works - I'll give it a go
Regards
Alan

CoordSys Earth Projection 8, 104, "m", 105, 0, 0.9996, 500000, 0

The maps I have used so far are the USGS DRG type that have tic marks with coordinate values.
The only way I know to make the georeference work is to be able to select a point graphically on the map and type in the coordinates.
I am ready for suggestions from those who are doing this successfully using maps without such tic marks.
Phil,
I found the sample Raster map for Nantes on the CD.
GNSS says that it is happy with my Geo Referencing.
It says it is happy with the upload
But I still can't see the map.
Has anybody tried the EU Version of the latest PM3 firmware with Raster Maps
Regards
Alan
I have had no problem loading and viewing Raster maps in the PM3, although they have always been small files, which upload quickly.
As Mark Silver says in the document Phil refers to, once you have loaded the map from GNSS to PM3 go into Surveying then push the MENU key, Setup, Select Map, go to Raster Map and select the Map name you just uploaded and hit the Ssve button.
Then use the NAV key to go to the map screen. If you are outside in the area of the raster image, use the IN or OUT keys to view the map. You will see a blank rectangle until you zoom in close enough. It also takes a few seconds for the raster image to appear. If you are inside you will need to hit the OUT key a number of times, move the cursor to the area where the raster map is and hit the IN key a number of times until you see the blank rectangle. Move the cursor inside the rectangle and zoom IN until you see the Raster image.
Ian,
Thanks for the reply.
I have tried uploading the small sample file and also one of our own - no luck
I have been using the GNSS software - it all looks good. Says it's created the image OK - loaded OK
But then nothing on the screen.
I have read the manual backwards trying to solve this.
I thought of trying the other bit of software that is in the GNSS directory called Raster2GeoTIFF.
However, I know how to use the Eastings and Northings but not the Lines and Pixels.
Any help would be appreciated.

Alan
I am not able to help you out, but in order to assist others:
What is your computer operating system?
What physical ports does it have?
Do you have another computer available?
What is loaded on your PM3? and what version?
What physical devices are connected to the PM3?
How close are you to your dealer?

Paul,
Thanks for the reply
I am taking one of the PM3 into a dealer tomorrow.
If they can upload it from their computer then it will help track the missing link.
I will post a full reply when I get to the bottom of the issue.
I can tell you that we had 4 x PM3's all running the latest Firmware and PC's are all XP notebooks
As I said I'll give complete details shortly.

Alan
An update on the raster map saga.
In talking with Ian Iredale, who has no trouble loading maps - I discovered that any map I upload has a different file size compared to the same map done by Ian
Ian Iredale sent me a geo referenced map that I loaded directly onto a SD Card - no involvment with GNSS or a USB cable
IT WORKED - I have seen a map on the PM3.
So, that narrows it down to my PC - the USB connection.
Below is my hardware & software specs
GNSS Version 2.50.06
PM3 Details
- OS F/W 2.16
- Eboot Ver 1.40
- GPS F/W Version P010
- GPS DataServer 1.2.0.3
My PC - Asus Notebook A3E
1.6GHz
496 RAM
XP Proffessional
Version 2002
SP2

I have just been informed by our local dealer (Sagem) that this is a known issue.
Would love to have found that out a month ago.
He has just returned from the Rome conference and submitted my issues to the engineers.
