Re:"Lost data" in *.mmj file

One of my surveyors is repeatedly loosing data in the mmj file. It seems to log in the wrong date although the system seems to indicate otherwise. I really need the data. The survey was conducted Dec 4th but when I try to bring it in I noticed that the file start and end times record Oct 2nd. Is there anyway to retreive the data? I know there must data in there because of the size of the file. The surveyor in question is quite experienced and I have observed his procedures and I don't see anything wrong. He is the only one experiencing this problem. Please help!!!!!

I have been using MM on the PM3 often, but have not found this problem. I do not think that you can get into the mmj file and extract out or modify the file, but others may prove this wrong. Some questions: are you using latest updates? Do you wait for the correct date at start up [if it is a date problem]? Are you post processing? How are you losing data-[ assuming point data]-does it not come up in MMO after downloading? Could it be in the download from the PM3? So far for me, the system has worked without the slightest glitch, except for a warning about the quality of some of the data collected. If you like, send over the mmf file[s] & I can have a go at unlocking the mystery.

Tim,

Was the data collected in post-processing mode? If so, I should be abl to fix it. Send the original unexpanded file from the receiver to linda@lost-coast-designs.com.

To avoid the problem, have the surveyor go to Utilites/ GPSInit and be sure to set the region. Neve start the job until you have a full bank of satellites, and go to the position screen and verify that the date and time are correct. If so, you should be good to go.

Sigh, the data was collected in "real-time", the latest updates were installed, in the "Utilities" as well as the "Settings" the date and time were correct. When downloaded into MMO the dates and times shown were quite different (Oct 2nd 2007) as apposed to Dec 4 2007 which is the actual date of the survey. When I say "downloaded" I mean the software went through the motions as though there was data to be transferred although no points nor lines show up.
The data is both point and line which showed up on the NAV screen during the course of the survey. In the past, there were a number of sessions where points were picked up but there may be 7 or 8 points out of 50 that went missing.
Understandably the surveyor is upset as he spent a fair deal of time collecting points over a wide area only to find his day was shot.
I will send the file to both of you; it is not an mmf file but a mmj file.
The surveyor and myself are aware of the issue of having to make sure that the correct date/time/region along with a full bank of satellites are there before proceeding with a survey.
I appreciate the help.
