MMCE Touch Screen Problems
Posted By Jason Downs on 9/7/2007 at 11:15 AM

Have a client who is using a MMCE. When the unit is turned on, a command box (Arrange Icons By; Refresh; Paste; Paste Shortcut; New Folder; Properties)continuously pops up and closes as if you are tapping and holding on the desktop with the stylus. I've tried recalibrating the stylus as well as reinstalling the firmware to no avail. I'm hoping it's not a hardware malfunction or that it was not dropped in the field or otherwise abused by the client causing an error in the touch screen itself. It doesn't appear to be beat up or anything. Ideas?

Sometimes when you get a bit of dirt or trash around the perimeter of a TDS Ranger it will exhibit funky behavior with the touch screen. Nate and Deral seem to like to use a toothbrush to clean around the edges, I'd start first with a very soft "make-up" brush the kind like I carry in my total station tool kit for the occasional lens cleaning before I tried a coarse tooth brush. Maybe that'll do it?

That would make sense. The menu seems to be popping up around the upper left hand portion of the screen. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Road scholar?

Dave, just about the time I wonder whether you have any redeeming social value you come up with a gem of wisdom that would make the Wise Old Indian proud.

Is a road scholar anything like a sail rabbit?

Does anybody want to see some redneck science projects?
