I decided to buy an Mobile Mapper Pro last month. Placed an order and waited for notice of shipment. After hearing nothing for 2 weeks, I contacted them and was told that they were waiting for shipment from France. I waited another 3 weeks and called. They have no idea when it will be, maybe 6-8 weeks! I said I might need to order from someplace that has it in stock, was told that several people have called them and can't find one anyplace.
Does anyone know of someplace that would have these in stock for a reasonable price?
What exactly do you need an MM Pro for?
MM Pro, MM CE and PM-3 have overlapping abilities but yet are different.
The MM and MM Pro are made in France.
The MM CE and PM-3 are made in China.
Which do you think is cheaper to manufacture?
Which costs More?
Take the plunge and help Magellan's bottom line. You get more bang for more bucks.
So, what exactly do you need an MM Pro for?

Not sure about the Pro, but Hayes has a CE in stock.

Guys...
the MM Pro is (was) about half the price of the PM3, and on a totally different platform than the PM3 or the MM CE. The MM Pro is basically a Magellan Color/PM2 on steroids :-)
I like mine. We use it as a L1 unit with all our stuff, when we need another unit, and it's great for loading shape file maps from cad, via MM Office. I'm really glad the MM CE was so late in making it's appearance causing me to just purchase the old technology of the MM Pro.
NOw, to set the record a bit straighter, I really like the functionality of the PM3 to replace the MM Pro for the same purposes, but it does take a bit more skin off your back for a much improved productivity.

Heard from vendor yesterday that problems with France getting products out, they are changing over to another assembly source to abate this bottleneck.......

Hoping to use the MM pro for uploading shape files to use for reconnaisance and for rough stakeout of roads. Also location of perc holes, post processed.
Apparently there are PM3's available in the country, for not too much more money, may just jump to on of them now rather than later. I was looking at the MMpro as a trial run before investing in PM3. Currently have 3 PM2s.
Bill,
Go for it get a PM-3, upgrade to GNSS Solutions, better get 2 so it's free.

Paul, thanks for the advice/opinion. Do you know if GNSS is required to process the PM3 data. I assume not, and in that case, what is the basic advantage over Solutions?
Moving up from one MM pro to two PM3 is a hefty difference to the budget.
Was in your area last weekend, scuba at Dutch Springs with some scouts in prep for trip to BSA Seabase next week.
Bruce,
Would you consider a PM3 that only has the MobileMapping capability? You'd get the larger touch screen, which is a big bonus for those of us with old eyes. It comes with just the MobileMapper Office software and an internal antenna.
To answer your question, Bill. You need GNSS to process the Survey data, not the MobileMapping data. While you can still use the old Ashtech Solutions, it does not use the PRISM technology which gives you the faster solutions. Basically, you'd be back to the PM2 occupation times. Of course, if you have mix of PM2 and PM3, regardless of software, your time requirements are based on the PM2 end of the baseline.
