Has anyone used the beacon receiver with a Mobilemapper Pro? Sounds like it will work with a cable to the MM pro. I would like to see how well it works staking out rough limits of clearing. I've used it without the beacon, but with a promark 2 antenna, and I like it. I think the beacon may help with accuracy though.
Thanks
Yes, the MM Beacon works with the MM Pro automatically when you attach the two with a cable that Magellan sells. You can also use the standard MM Pro data cable but you will have to insert a null modem adapter between between the cable and the MM Beacon. This makes it easy for the cable to detach itself from the Beacon - hence the duty-built cable. The most important thing to know is that the MM Beacon "talks" only at 4800 Baud, so set the MM Pro to talk at the same speed (MENU>Setup>Baud Rate).
The MM Pro will automatically apply the Beacon corrections as soon as it gets them. To save time in locking onto the signal from the closest beacon ground station, you can run the Beacon configuration software to tune the beacon to the station nearest you. This software is available at ftp.magellangps.com in the /Mobile Mapping/MM Beacon/Software/PC_Version/ folder.
