Grid to ground

A dumb question, maybe. But here goes:

Why not add into the software the ability to use each coordinate's scale factor, combined with it's elev. factor, and then print out this as the "ground coord" value? This seems like a very simple solution to a complex problem. Why Not?

Nate,

You said it clearer than I did below but I think Richard's answer <2> is the response.

I was kinda thinking it might mess with the orientation and possibly even the ground distance vs. EDM.

But the math to prove it either way is beyond this poor ol coonass boy's head.

Richard,

15000 is a good max distance around here, but 30' vertical would be the max in 99% of the jobs......we are flatlands !

Ok, here's the scenerio:

I use GPS to survey a township, 6 mi x 6 mi.

I select the middle of the T'ship, for scale factor, and the avreage elev. and use this to survey in this whole T'ship

Now I want to run the T'ship next to it, and now I have conflicting coords, for the same points. (Ground Coords)

Why not write a program that converts Geodetic Lat-Long to real time coords, and use this.

Still give SPC for our Survey Control.

But now there is no conflict between the T'ships.

I am too stupid to figure out why this won't work, or how to do it either!
