taken from mobile mapper CE, what is the best way to put on the elevation of the points? Or can this be done?

When exporting the post-processed files it should give you an altitude as well as your northing and easting.

When I exported the point file, the only fields that were on the shapefile are FID Shape and FIELD1. In mobile mapper office I can click on each individual point and see the other fields, but they didn't come over.

To export in MMoffice I went to File/Export

thanks

Make sure that you are exporting a .CSV file from MobileMapper Office. This will give you an altitude as a field.

In addition to .csv format, you can also export the MMCE data to shapefile format (or .dxf and .mif) . But if you want elevations to be exported into a shapefile, you must select "3D shapefile."

By the way, if you want to record elevation with ArcPad - and do not plan on post-processing the data, you should create shapefiles that are "PointZ," "PolylineZ," etc. A feature recorded into a shapefile with "Point" or "Polyline" geometry are 2D only.

But if you also record data for post-processing, it doesn't make any difference if the geometries of the feature you recorded with ArcPad are of the "Z" type or not. MobileMapper Office will calculate elevations for you. You just have to remember to export to 3D shapefile format if you want to preserve the elevations.
