Do you guys at Ashtech have any objections to my continued discussion of "OPIE" L1/CORS positioning? I have always appreciated this forum and don't want to detract from it's purpose. Heck, if it weren't for this bboard last July and August, I may have been using something yellow or green, or none at all.
Just want to make sure you guys have no objections before I start all over again with OPIE Test #2. (Just downloaded the first 3 of 5 CORS sites and processed yesterdays 8 hours of Locus data to compare with last week's session. Wow......

J.D.,
I don't know who you mean by "Ashtech Bosses", but I personally think whatever Ashtech users wish to discuss here is OK. If you're doing something different with Ashtech gear, fine. For people like Kent McM and TM, you're welcome too, as are product comparisons like comparing results between Solutions and TGO using the same data sets. Even what you do to that poor Locus on the post is OK by me.

Brian

You can't stop now. We are all waiting to see what the PM2 does on the CORS "test range".
Also tell the Ashtech "bosses" that this BBs probably does more good for their sales than their advertising.
It is nice to know that there is somewhere to go for help when you are venturing into a new technology or purchasing new equipment. I must say that even though I don't own any Ashtech equipment (yet) I have been very impressed with the assistance (timely assistance)given to users on this BBS by Ashtech and other friendly surveyors. Now if we could get Autodesk to talk to us we would be all set.
J.D. - Keep up the good R&D it give me somthing to look forward to.

JD,
Well, I am no wheel, just a lowly salesman from Connecticut, but...I think this is terrific. I'm so busy, I wish I had time to do some of the experiments that you guys do.
Keep up the good work, inquiring minds want to know!
I would just like to second J.D.'s comment on the usefullness of this board and its influence in choosing brands of GPS hardware. I always figured I would be using Trimble hardware as we have a dealer here in town that we have had a relationship with for at least 20 years, but when the time came to buy this past summer, after looking at all the literature and assessing our needs, Ashtech came out as the obvious choice. The buy 2 get one free Locus deal was nice, and it sweetened the pot so to speak, but the real deal clincher was this board and the amazing amount of information that I got from reading it before we purchased our Locus units. By reading all the posts on here, I had some good ideas of what they did and would not do, and how to use them. My boss, who wrote the check, thought this was good stuff. He let me make the decision on what equipment to buy, and I have not regretted our Ashtech decision. I know that when we move on to RTK in a while, we will be considering that nice blue stuff.
So thank you Ashtech, for the good equipment and this open forum for discussing and learning more about GPS. And thank you all the users who post on this great place.
