mmce first time user issues

I have just purchased the mmce with application builder and it is not saving data very successfully it takes forever (the hour glass issue) I have arcpad on my pc I tried the solution posted but that did not work either I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on maybe I installed something wrong I just don't know. I have another issue on my mmce I cannot change the symbology for point styles they come up as (!,@,$,%,(,%) and so forth I was able to change them just the other day now I can't also my pc does not recognize the mmce when I connect the two and I have installed acive sync I am pulling what little hair I have left out can someone out there give me a hand

Strip it clean

I ran into this issue about the point symbols yesterday. The first inclination is to think that some of ArcPad 6 was left behind when ArcPad 7 was installed. Either way, use the instructions from the ftp server to strip the MobileMapper CE clean. Then use the instructions from the ftp server to install ArcPad 7 and see if it has a better attitude.

I have been successfully using ActiveSync 3.8 here at work and 4.1 (I think) at home. I know the one at home is newer.

If it is broken get it fixed and keep the rest of your hair.
