I was wondering when the promised "GRID TO GROUND" coordinate program is going to be available. It was supposed to be included in the last upgrade of the Locus Processor software. This routine would save a lot of headaches in converting grid to ground. According to Ashtech it's a simple process. If it is so simple why not just write the routine as a patch to the current version of software and offer it as a free download to current Locus users?? Any other users thoughts on this would be helpful in getting this routine finally included in the software.

William,
Why not leave your GPS derived coordinates alone in the Locus processor. Export the coordinates to your cogo/cad system and do the scale and rotation there. This way you can save the original GPS work in it's proper format for future needs and have a local system, properly documented, for your "final" project needs.
Works well for us.

I Agree with J.D. Billings
I have read instruction and performed transformations inside locus and I believe it leaves you more vulnerable for mistakes. Locus gives you the info you need to perform the adjustments in just a couple of seconds in you cad. Without jumping through all the loops. I don’t want to knock Locus processor, It is the best software I have seen.
I just upgraded to the new Win version of StarNet
and have been doing the conversion there
We were working with the SP grid coords in Cogo
using the input / output factors but I like this much
better.
IF YOU INPUT COORDINATES IN A COGO PROGRAM AND HAVE TO MANUALLY ENTER SCALE AND ROTATION FACTORS THERE IS A CHANCE FOR ERROR.
I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE LOCUS SOFTWARE EXPORT GROUND COORDINATES.
The grid to ground conversion is so simple that you shouldnt need anything but your own computer.
I wrote a scale conversion program in 5 minutes, using gwbasic & dos.
Windows is dumming us all down.
