Ashtech antennas help
Posted By john Hamilton on 11/21/2001 at 11:18 AM

I have received data from a client that I need to process and bluebook. I am a little confused about the antennas.

One receiver, a Z-12, used P/N 700228. I see from the NGS page that there were several versions of this antenna, A through E. The offset from the base varies for these between 80.7 and 86.8 mm.

The other Z-12 used a P/N 700578, which I can't find any info for. However, the client leads me to believe that this is the same antenna as the other above.

They also used two Z Surveyors. The only info I have for those two antennas is the following:
AT2775-42W-TNCF-000-RG-36-MN. The same info was given to me for the two of them, so I assume the antennas are identical. These antennas have four digit serial numbers, and were manufactured in 1999.

Any help on the type/part number for these antennas used with the Z surveyor?

Thanks

John,

Tech support should be able to answer you. support@ashtech.com or 800-229-2400.

I'm fairly certain that the Z-Surveyor antenna is 701008-01. On the 700228, you'll have to get the rev (A-E).

Thanks, Brian. I did locate my client by cell phone. The Z surveyors were not his, but he remembers the antennas being the marine type (700700). Of course, there are several revs (A-C) of those as well. The difference is a lot smaller, only 2 mm between the different revs.

Maybe a little help

For the 700228 my suggestion is to average the numbers for the models listed until you have a better idea what version they have.

For the 700578 the data base indicates this as the appropriate choice:

For that AT2775-42 use this one:

A little additional history on these Ashtech Antennas.

The Aero Antenna AT2775-42W-TNCF-000-RG-36-MN, is also known to Ashtech Users as the Marine IV L1/L2
Ashtech P/N 105645.

This smaller diameter antenna shipped with Ashtech Z-Surveyor
RTK systems for quite awhile.

We've had this antenna tested by NOAA/NGS.
The electrical phase center data for Ash 105645 can be retrived from the NGS Antenna cailbration page.

The 701008-01 antenna Brian refers to is a Geodetic L1/L2 antenna with a grey external ground plane.

Regarding the 700228 Antenna, these antenna will typically have REV Letter associated to the P/N.
Example 700228 Rev. D

The Rev. extension refers to the manufacturing lot.
