Do a project. Finish and back it up elsewhere. Go and try running it from new storage location. Can't find SV data files. Add files back in under file menu tab. Loads data files but run still can't use old files to process with.
Restore it back to its exact original path and no problemo.
Is there some way of updating the path AS and/or Processor uses when searching for data files to process ???

Jimbo,
Solutions stores the path to the raw data files in the project (.spr) file, so if you move the raw data, you'll have to bring it into the project from the new location before you can reprocess.
Brian
Brian,
So when I archive to another location, want to run it there for some unearthly reason, like I wanted to play at the house this morning, then I have to re-type all the static point info in .......
Why can't they just let me edit the path with a button in the settings ???

I experienced the same thing myself today. Ran some sessions on a project yesterday that I had originally done in February and wanted to work it all together. I copied the file folder from zip disk back to the hard drive and... you know how that worked. Had to "add files from disk", then add the new files from the receivers. I did the old files last night (add from disk), and tweaked them a bit with AS 2.5 (actually cleaned them up a bit), saved the data and exited. This morning when I finally got the time to add the new session data to the files, I had to put the zip disk back in and "add files from disk" again to reprocess all the stuff together. I'm getting a bit confused with this myself now.
J.D.
JD,
My problem is I don't have the hard copies of the data sheets(obs. logs) at the house with my offsite backup.....
Hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
Guess this means I need to scan my data sheets and store them offsite also.
Which I should really be doing anyway to have a complete backup offsite.

EDIT: Went and played with a little fire. If I open .spr file with notepad then I appear to be able to edit the path to the raw data file. Is this as obvious as it looks ...use search and replace all in wordpad instead of notepad ? Anybody try it yet ? Or do they have something else hidden in there. It appeared each file in the project, 8, had its own path listing, therefore 8 replacements should occur.
I'll try it tonight at the house on a copy of a backup and see what happens. I'll let ya'll know.

I tried it once with a binary editor. Solutions told me it was an invalid project file.
Jim F.,
Being the stubborn coonass I am, i tried it with wordpad. needless to say, I encountered similar results as you....."unexpected file format"......
Oh well, maybe they'll give us a button one day. My fingers are kinda slow typing in data again.

I guess I'm talking about a different problem. I know I got through this several months ago but forgot how. All my old data files are on zip disk. I wanted to copy/move the files back to the hard drive and add new data. Just can't seem to get to the B files without the zip disk staying in the drive. Then after working the project and saving, if I want to tinker with it again, have to put the zip disk in to operate. What's the deal?
J.D.
JD,
Before you load the files into the project you have to put the files on the hard drive.
Then create the project, load files from disk(hard drive) and then it should work.
If you originally created the project and loaded the files into it from the Zip disk, then you have the exact same problem we have, just a slightly different way. You can't change the path to the data files, and neither can we.
Jimbo
Nasty little problem, isn't it?
J
JD,
Not exactly the words I would use, but yeah, it is.
