For the first time every I lost data.
I ran two sessions with each PM3, 2 with at PM2 and 2 with a HiPer while the base HiPer for an OPUS position, 4.5 hrs.
The first session of the day with PM3, picked up a number SV's in less than a minute. SO I stated logging data. Set up the second PM3 near some power lines and could not get a fix on SV's. I moved it 100ft from the power line. Still no fix on a SV's. I keyed in a relative Lat/Lon and current time. Then finally got a position. Continued on the day. When I got back to the first PM3, I noticed it had logged for about 1hr 40min. So I hit done and went on my way and set this PM3 on a second point. Got back to the office to download and this first PM3 that got a quick lock on SV's, had only one data file. The file for my second setup with this receiver. No data on the first setup at all.
Crap. This is the first time I've LOST data on any receiver.

Are you sure you lost data?
Look again for ALL the data that remains on your PM3(or the SD card, if that's what you used).
Look at the files with an eye on files that just don't seem like they should be there.
In my case, I checked all my jobs(in GNSS), and saw that I did no work on a particular day, but that one of the recievers had a file for that day.
I pulled that file and saw that, even though the day didn't match, the time for that file matched my other units time.
I RINEXED that particular file, ran the RINEXED file through "notepad" and did a search and replace of all the bad date data(every single %$^%$&%&(%&% epoc was wrong from first to last), replacing it with the right date.
I put this adjusted RINEX into GNSS wit the other unit's file and everything worked out just fine.
I have noticed that the date and time are not ALWAYS set properly when the ProMark3 locks on to SV's.
I checked the date and time to make sure it is correct before I start logging data.
In the work done on February 11th and 12th I had to help the receiver get the date and time right twice.
I did not lose any sessions due to the date time error because I took a moment to make sure it was right before starting the session.
Stacy provided a data set that went to the engineers to help them find and fix the problem. His is the only data set that has been sent to me at work. Some people would rather whine than help solve a problem. Stacy took the time to share his files.
But there is not a good reason to let the problem keep you from getting good results. Check the date and time before you log data.
Does anybody tell Thales to fix this date problem?
John, I use the SD card.
Unfortunately it has been common procedure for me to download todays data, then delete the old projects from the SD card. Which I did prior to seeing your post. I always sort the files by date and remove old files. I do remember looking at the date and time on PM3 in the filed. It was Dec 22, 2005, and the times off by one hour. I have used the receiver many times since that date, so I don't know why it was set to that.
Is there an undelete for SD cards?

Marko,
I agree, this is a major bug. THere is NO excuse for lost data. I've owned GPS receivers for over two years, and been using them for the past 10 years, while never loosing a single session until yesterday.
Why should we have to reset the time a $3500 clock?

I'm not so sure that the engineers at Thales did Stacy any good at all. In fact, from what I know(and have seen), I don't know that the engineers did anything with that data.
I recovered that data for Stacy, by the way.
I don't suppose that anyone gave any thought to why the PM3, upon startup ALWAYS has the wrong date . . . NOT SOMETIMES . . . BUT . . . ALWAYS.
I make a point, after startup of hitting a couple of icons(back & forth), BEFORE I go into the surveying program.
I have noticed that the odds of having the correct date comes . . . not after time spent(with the unit on), but rather by key-strokes hit before you need the correct date.
I GUARANTEE . . . if you turn your unit on, press the settings icon ONE TIME(and one time only), hit the [ENTER] button, then hit the time & date button, ONE TIME(one time only), and then the [ENTER] button, the date will be incorrect.
NOW, if you close out of this time & date box(hit the "X") and go back into time & date . . . the date will be correct.
NOW, if you turn the PM3 on, hit the survey button ONCE, then hit the setting button once, THEN hit [ENTER], and proceed to time & date, the date will be correct.
I think there's a flag that is not being set for the date & time and I wonder if this has anything to do with the files that are being saved with the wrong time.
