Loading Rinex

Im trying to load a rinex file from a CORS. Downloaded the CORS data in RINEX2 format using PKZIP compression. Unzipped it into *.01n,*.01m,*.01o files. In Solutions convert rinex *.01o file to B... file. Try to add GPS Raw data from disk using the B... file. It looks like it is loading but nothing new in Timeview, Workbook. I,m a first timer. The PM2 files loaded ok.

BTW v. 2.5 solutions

Not sure why your converted RINEX file isn't loading, but it's worth noting that you don't have to convert from RINEX to Ashtech binary separately. When adding data from disk, if you specify a RINEX observation file (and the nav file is available), Solutions will handle the conversion for you.

If the cors station does not have any simultaneous data for your session (yet). It will act just as you described. You may have to wait 3 days of so for all the data to show up. You could examine the header on the rinex file and see if there is anything odd.

Note that data availability diagrams are available from the ngs cors site in some cases. As I have indicated before, some CORS operate irregularly and some post data slowly and some fast.

PS: I agree with JF on the import, I have never had to explicitly convert the CORS files, and just used "import GPS data from files" option from the pulldown.

I noticed that I didn't have to convert from rinex to a B file after I posted and tried that as well with no luck. The data availability diagram on the website is solid blue all day for.315. The only thing else I might mention is that I asked for interpolated 10 sec. epochs as the site is posted as 30 sec. epochs. I asked for 6 hrs. of data and the file seems to have lots of data in it. I would post the header if I had it, but its at another location right now.

I think I've seen this one before.....by any chance are you using internet explorer 5.xx and the user friendly cors site?

Take any of your Promark created e (ephemeris) files from the same session and rename one of them to the cors site file name...I think I found that zipping the data corrupted the cors ephemeris file, and just copying one from a promark unit solved the problem....

Also, check the rinex 01.o file with wordpad and see if there is a 4 letter site name in the header for marker name. I have seen some trimble generated cors (Cooperative cors, ie, Concord, NH NHDOT base station) where the marker name was longer than 4 characters....Ashtech software needs a 4 character site name....

Thanks Bob,
Yes I am using Explorer 5.xx friendly???? site and yes it is a Trimble base station. I will try that later. Is the rinex eph. file the .01n or the .01m? Im guessing 01n. I,m getting impressed with this message board.

Norm, the .01n (nav) file is the ephemeris. The .01m (met) file is weather data.

I never did get the Zip file to load into Solutions. However, I did get Gzip files to load using the free software extraction tool on the CORS website. Thanks to all.
