Mission Planning

I read the manual and help, but I can't get data for mission planning to show. I have an almanac and opened it but no scheduales appear. I checked that there were not too many obstructions when I set my site up. I am at a loss. Thanks.

Do you have a site defined?

I haven't been paying attention, but I believe in GNSS Solutions if you are in a project and go to planning it uses your project location as the site. If not you have to enter lat and long etc.

If you have a site, then you start clicking on the top row of buttons and things show up.

You may need to call 1-800-229-2400 to walk you through this, but until they open for business, here goes. Assuming you are using the new Planning which comes with GNSS Solutions.

Let me start with a comment, I don't like the new Planning so far.

I was wrong about it using the position of the project you are in when you open it. It is independant, so you have to enter a project position.

I do not like the logrythmic scale of the PDOP. It does not concurrently give me the number of satellites on the PDOP screen.

I prefer the different colors for the satellite times chart of the old Planning.

It is different in that you open the almanac and then select a site. In the old Planning I would open my site and then could select an almanac, but it automatically chose the newest otherwise. If I have an almanac for a day when a satellite is marked unhealthy, I seem unable to turn that satellite back on.

You can right click at a lot of places and get choices, so start right clicking on all the buttons up top and also on the screen.

I'll use my old Planning for now, thank you very much, Thales.

Whether you are using the Mission Planning from Ashtech Solutions or GNSS Solutions the place to begin is with the help file.

Walk through the instructions in the help file and determine whether you are making the charts you want by the time you get to the end of the help file.

A fairly new almanac is available from the ftp server at
