ProMark 2 - NGS Antenna Testing Completed
Posted By Bob LeMoine on 10/28/2001 at 6:31 AM

For all ProMark 2 User's.

NGS has completed their Antenna Phase Center testing on the L1 Antenna used with the ProMark 2 system.

Ashtech Antenna Part Number 110454.

NGS has provided the Electrical Phase Center results to Ashtech. In additional, NGS will be posting these results to the NOAA/NGS GPS Antenna Calibration web site within the next week or so.

I anticipate Ashtech Technical Support Staff will produce a Technical bulletin on how to "Add" the Electrical Phase Center data to the Ashtech Solutions Software, stayed tuned in for additional details.

I hope everyone notices Bob's post. Many of you have the numbers I came up with for the ProMark2 antenna. Please understand those preliminary numbers were just me sitting at my desk with a the diagrams of the antenna, a ruler, and a calculator. When we have these official numbers in our hands please revise your antenna parameters to match them.

The new FAQ

The information that you need for Ashtech Solutions about the external antenna is in the FAQ on the Ashtech ftp server.

Deral, I missed it by 0.0001 meters.

Do I have to send my Junior Geodisist Secret Decoder Ring back when it gets here?

For those who'd prefer not to wander through the maze that is the Ashtech ftp site, the document in question is FAQ Promark2 v1.1.doc.

Edit: You may encounter logon difficulties if you click on the above link; it may be simpler to navigate to the parent directory and then download "FAQ ProMark2 v1.1.doc". Since this appears to be a Microsoft Word document, you'll also need software that can handle the embedded control codes.
