Hi,

My name is Miguel Angel Tous, writing you from Argentina.
I would like to know if someone of you have had communications problems with LOCUS and a Toshiba Laptop Model 1805-S253.
I can't get any communication at all using the Infra-Red.
Could you please take look and let me know your experience???

Thanks in advance

Miguel

Not from personal experience but from reading here or on the general message board there is a problem with the Toshiba serial ports. Toshiba support is aware of the problem and has a fix, if I remember correctly.

I have had 2 Toshiba laptops and both had the same problem. Windows takes control of the com ports and won't let go. For some reason this does'nt happen on anything else I've used.
You have to go into windows registry and tell the OS to stop looking for a mouse on the com port that you are using. This fixed the problem on both of my laptops.

Dear James Peter:

I am owner of a Toshiba laptop and I have the same problem you report.
I am trying to repair that but I need more precise information. Could you
tell me which section of windows registry I have to modify? Best regards.

Hi
I have a similar problem with my Toshiba Portege 3110CT(running Win98).
I can download my LOCUS units thru COM1 via the ACT-IR200L link but not the HP48 handheld.
The only success with the HP48 is via cable using KERMIT (a bit of a pain).
I have had no success with either the LOCUS units or the HP48 using the inbuilt IR port of the laptop.
Does anyone have any ideas, please.
