The typically laptop connection to the PM2 is for uploading/downloading.

There should be no current passing through the cable because it is a data port.

So the answer is no.

Deral Paulk, PLS OK

PS-And welcome to the board. Lot's of good information and you'll get some answers.

My nephew (my wife's, sister's child) was born Oct. 11.
He is half German, 1/4 Mexican and 1/4 Greek and his name is Dimos Theofilos Psomiadis.

Uhumm...coz it's a *serial* port. USB is also a data port and carries current. There's about 4 volts sitting pretty there.

Can be disastrous when a portable USB printer is connected to the same external 12V external power source (a cig lighter for instance).
Bottom line: you want a mobile office, install a twin battery system for the truck.

I understand that there's always about 5 volts going through RS232.

If you can make use of it(from whatever reason), you should be able to run the ProMark2 . . . but I don't think it would be worth the trouble and aggravation.
