Leica 500 with pen computer and Field link s/w

to setup the Leica 530 with filed link I like to know the following :-
1 setup should be only through the controller TR500 ?
2 after connecting with the pen computer does I still need to connect the controller TR500 with the receiver as mentioned in the Photo in leica catalouge (Connecting Leica field link 5.00 with GPS)
