How does the Magellan Map 330 measure L1?

I know there were a few posts on this board about this, but, how does the Magellan hand-held in the Promark 2, measure the L1 signal?

Does it HAVE to have the correct software?

John,

They changed what is in the box to make it a ProMark2. It feels like a 330 but it will do navigation and survey work as well.
