Tom,

Is this the one you just got back from repairs ?

If so then you could expect an extra 5 minutes (MAYBE AS MUCH AS 10 DEPENDING ON CONSTELLATION oops fat fingers again) for the receiver to comeup from a cold boot state. This occurs when ALL files including almanac, etc. are deleted.

Jimbo, it is the one just back from repairs....the first time on it worked fine...then a couple of times it took 45 to 60 minutes to start recording data...now the last few days it has worked ok...Still trying it out..........Tom

May be what I alluded to in our email exchange. A slight, or not so slight jar of the unit may send it back to never-never land again. (If you know what I mean)

Tom,

Are you using the "press-and-hold-the- big-blue-button method" to delete your old files? If so, you might be deleting the almanac, as James mentioned. The only times I've had it take 35-40 minutes to start recording data was when I used that method, and the almanac was deleted.

Just a thought ...

Greg...yes I am using that method of deleting files but I am careful not to hold it down too long...so that is not the problem...Unit worked fine yesterday and today also...We will see what the future holds............thanks for the advice Tom

Tom, I find it much easier to delete files while receivers are being downloaded. It is quicker, and more selective, not to mention safer because you can see exactly which files are being deleted. In addition, you can never inadvertantly delete that almanac and ionoshpere files by controlling the process from the PC.

Recomend making sure the data files correctly download/process before deleting them from the receiver.
