Combine new & old files

I’ve got some new PM2 observations on a job that was GPS’ed with PM2’s back in July of last year. We occupied one previously used site id (the autonomous seed point for the project) and set some new points. Is it o.k. to open old project and just add these new observations to it or is this considered bad form?

Maybe a new project should be created using the coordinates from the old adjusted project.

Is that one base point enough or do I really need to occupy some more old points? (If they’re still there.)

If I were trying to tie into a particular grid I would occupy more known points, but I’m thinking using the one base point is exactly what I would do if I needed to add more points in a current project. (Leave my base set up on a seed point and go set two new points.)
I’m not sure how the passage of many months would affect my observations now.

Using Solutions 2.7

I’ve got a few more questions I’d like to throw out when I get the chance. Looking back through some old posts has really helped me get started with these PM2’s. Oh yes, and the online manual! What a great site.

I would put the observation files in the same directory, but start it as a different project. Once I had independant solutions confirming how close every thing was, I would merge all the observations, resolve and adjust. That is quicker if you don't have to move the files.

You can use the SaveAs option to make a new project from the old one.
