How long to learn LOCUS?
Posted By Marc Anderson on 8/29/2001 at 8:16 PM

I've been involved in some static work using Trimble receivers, but I was only invilved in the field work. I understand (somewhat) mission planning and the need for redundency, but I've never done any post-processing myself. How long should a new user of the LOCUS system expect to spend learning the system before they could start collecting reliable and precise control points?

Marc,

Virtually immediately for Static assuming you have good conditions. Good Pdop, open sky, etc. The software is very intuitive. The hardware is as close to idiot-proof as is possible I think. The biggest thing is to have the patience (good book helps) to wait for the blinks needed for the length of vector being measured.

The questions we have been asking about Solutions 2.4 are really how to use the tools added since Processor 1.2. These tools are really for adjusting and tweaking poorer condition sessions (even when you thought they should be good).
