Vertical Control with Locus

Thinking of purchasing 3 receiver Locus System. What's the deal with vertical control? How hot can you get it and how much of a pain is it?

Jeremy,

If you follow proper procedure, and closely monitor your processed and adjusted data, the Locus system will perform extremely well for general surveying purposes. We have been using the 3 Locus unit system for a year now and are constantly amazed at the results achieved. Our needs for Vertical control are mostly running preliminary control for sewer line projects. We run the static control in for both Horizontal and Vertical control on these projects, mostly under a mile total length. We set pairs at each end of the project, and a couple of intermediate points along the route where available sky permits. Conventional levels (total station trig method) have always checked +/- 0.05' throughout the entire project length. For my needs, this is close enough.

I am a land surveyor, not a geodesist, so I look at the Locus capabilities only in view of my personal project needs.

10mm vertical, about 4 hundreths, plus 2ppm. You have to come off good verticals, and build a decent network, but it is very do-able, as J.D. says.

I have found our specs tend to be conservative.
