GLONASS

I'm using the GG Surveyor in Tucson and the Russian satellite coverage is getting pretting thin. Does anyone know about any new launches?

Here's the best site I've found for Glonass info

unfortunately, you see that the Glonass system has only six satellites running for the entire world right now.

That doesn't get anyone much coverage, I'm afraid.

Bill

There a a lot of posts on the Ashtech and RPLS boards about Glonass. Just click on "Search" at the top of the page and type in "Glonass" in the MESSAGE section.

But in answer to your question, yes, 6 satelites is better than nothing, BUT, the Russians are spending all their launch money on the International Space Station, and even then, they cannot keep up with their commitments because the Americans have to keep baling them out. They also have their eye on the Galileo system as a savior, but Galileo is currently just a "talk-fest."

Last year they launched three-in-one sats, one of which has since failed. They promised to launch more, but don't have the cash,
