Locus Question

Has anyone ever had the satellite light on your reciever stay solid red after you power up? The power up that I am referring to is when you hold down the power button until you get a series of beeps and the data light goes solid.(this is when you power up and erase all files in the receiver, when starting a new job) I let it set for several minutes, thinking that is was taking a long time to erase files, but it still stayed solid red. (I did this several times with no success) I finally did a full reset and this did work, but I let it track satellites for 25 minutues like the book says and then powered down and then powered it back up like I tried in the first place and everything worked like it should. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Oh yeah...mine is at Ashtech right now for the same problem.,..they told me today it should ship back to me tomorrow or the next day..so when they tell you it will be 10 working days..believe them...and don't ship it to them UPS ground...it took mine 7 days to get from Missouri to them...

The repair guy rattled off all the things they did to it to me today...I didn't understand any of it...but he said it would be fine...

Go ahead and call tech support and they will tell you to send it in...I think you had this same problem, J.D. Am I recalling that right??????/

And if someone from Ashtech could explain what was/is wrong when this happens.,.I and others would love to hear about it....

Tom,

Yes, I had similar experiences with 2 units. The folks at Tech Support will take good care of the situation. I did, as I suggested to you, have a certain amount of "withdrawal pains" having to do without my full compliment of Locus units for awhile, but it was worth the wait. Just takes patience.
