Have you run a MM session for a lengthy "Evaluate" analysis?
Just curious if the WAAS average over a 10-12 hour (or longer) session actually lands closer to what would be the ITRF shift. Remember a couple years ago when we brought the Reliance to your playground and sure enough the correction signal we received from the Thales GeoSolutions base (formerly Racal) was ITRF. Regardoing the Mobile Mapper specifically, I'm still thinking that making the ITRF shift in the false Northing and False Easting would be closer to the truth in real time WAAS positions. And, I would guess that since it's only collecting raw data, the false Northing and False Easting changes would have absolutely no effect on any post processed results. I have probably 10 or more files where we've done OPUS positions on sites, and the last thing before leaving the project we let the MM do a 5 minute WAAS average. Time to do an analysis.
We do need to discuss doing a session and record a log file with Evaluate.

I am checking the set up procedures with the MM hooked to my old laptop. Works perfectly. I may run a cable out to a point outside tonight, in the ten meter range from my desk (longest cable I have on hand) and log a session. If we can weed out another meter from the real time WAAS, we're getting closer. Shawn and I should have done that with our PM2's a long time ago.
does a long "Evaluate" use up? Do you use a shorter recording epoch?
Not a MM man, yet.

Evaluate logs to a laptop so it doesn't fill up the receiver.
Neat little 'free' program that we have used for all the equipment.

JD..I haven't run that long of a session with the MM.
Or is that now politically incorrect?
It's fine with me.
Deral-Proud to be an Okie, but I'm not from Muskogee...Claremore in fact.
I haven't tried to google Redneck Science, but it would be funny if some of the links pointed to some of our discussions. I can imagine someone looking for humour and then finding some of our experiments.
As they scratch their head...Go figure, there really are redneck scientist.

Evaluate is a freebie program available from the software folder on the ftp server at
ftp://ftp.thalesnavigation.com
that will create a graphic display and log NMEA data from many types of GPS receivers that will output the right NMEA messages. Among other receivers it will work with the ProMark2, MobileMapper, ZXtreme, and ZMax. It will also work with my Map 330 and Sharon's Meridian Color. My old SCA-12 will also provide data for Evaluate.
It is a great program for examination of what goes on in the GPS receiver. It will let you log and play back data like a video.
You don't need the manual. All of the instructions are in the help file in the software.
So Phil has previously encouraged me to get Evaluate, so now I have it. I download the user guide from the software folder .zip, 7/8/03. Is that all I want or should I also get the eval_50.pdf from the Reference Manuals folder.?

Yes, go ahead and get the manual. It might help hooking up stuff.
I've used evaluate with non-ashtech stuff..
It helped.
Get it all and have fun!

Rephrasing the question, the Manual is in word format in the zip file that I have. I am printing parts as we speak.
Is the eval_50.pdf the same thing?
Nevermind, the Word document does not appear to be properly page formatted. I will get the bigger .pdf and take a look at it. No sense killing trees, electrons is cheaper

All the manuals I have for Ashtech stuff are in PDF..I haven't seen one in word.
I might have missed that one.
The PDF's explain it enough.
Deral
The User's Guide, Word document is 7/8/03, Version 5.20, 43 pages.
The .pdf is dated 7/8/03 also, Version 5.0, 58 pages.
BTW, the installed version of Evaluate says Ver. 6.27.
So now what?
I am going to watch the Eagles game.
I came back to this post. They finally win an almost big one, the BIG ONE is next.
