v 2.4 installation warnings
Posted By Nathan deAryan on 8/16/2001 at 12:40 PM

I remember reading on this site some warning about installing v-2.4 on top of the previous versions.

Just got my copy of 2.4 a couple of days ago.

I want to install.

Should I start another file, and keep the old copy on my computer?

just don't want to mess up the past,

Nate

Nate,

The safest way (as with other Win32 s/w) is to uninstall the old version, then install the new one.

Brian

A couple things I would like to emphasize-- make sure you back up your old .DB files first, as the 2.40 installation notes state. Also, back up your project files (.spr) along with any data files if these files are in the /Projects folder of the Ashtech Solutions folder. If you un-install Ashtech Solutions, the /Projects and /bin folders will be removed from the computer.

The latest release notes for Solutions 2.40 can be found at

ftp://ftp.ashtech.com/software/Ashtech%20Solutions/Solutions24.doc

Regards,

Richard

The \Projects and \bin folders will not be removed during an uninstall.
