Rinex to TGO
Posted By Jeremiah Teague on 12/22/2004 at 9:41 AM

We just purchased 3 PM2's to use in conjunction with Trimble receivers (I'm not getting into the "why the hell would you...", as I have p & m'd (that's a fine summary of my opinion of these little Fisher Price frisbee want a be's) enough. We would like to import the Rinex file into TGO and perform the adjustment. But it appears that the elevation derived in TGO does not recognize the rod height. All elevations appear to be about 6 feet high (about the same as the slant height using the tripod). We were advised by Ashtech to use the Rinex 1.9 conversion software. That solved a couple of problems but not this one. Any ideas?

I certainly wish Trimble were as wise as Thales in establishing such a board.

If I am reposting an oft repeated problem, I apologize. I tried several searches but I might not have used the proper phrasing.

Thanks and Cheers,

Jeremiah

Jeremiah,

I can't help you on this one, and to my knowledge this hasn't been brought up here before. You might try to get in touch with Jim Frame. I think he has experience with your set up.

I haven't done it in awhile, but you used to edit the antenna.ini file to add your new antennas. It might be easier now, but I haven't had to add one in a few years.

We used to put in both the vertical measurement and the slant height (two different antenna's), that way you could pick the one needed at the time.

I think JD, et al, figured out the correct measurement for the APC for the Promarks. Ask them for the offset or search on this board.

The published antenna parameters for the ProMark 2 found on the NGS ant callibration page are fine. (The ashtech locus paramters were what we had to alter).

Are using Solutions Rinex Converter to export your Ashtech files? If so look for the "Additional Information" Button and add your antenna heights manually.

We input the ant hts in additional info, David

We're bringing in the TGO data to Ashtech to see if we can reverse the process. It looks like we're going to have to double the instrument height to get it to work.

Jeremiah, I've brought PM2 data in RINEX format into TGO. I don't recall an issue with the antenna heights. If you like, email the RINEX data to me and I'll try the import with your data.

Maybe Stan Lee can use the Super Partridge

You saved the day. Your reference to the TGO version sent me to the site to find the updated antennae files. Now I think we have it. I will post the whole process when we get it down because the antennae height still comes in listing a bit to port.

Thanks and cheers,

Jeremiah
