We are literally taking names and kicking butt with the MM..
I put it on the belt (military issue) each morning along with the 48 and the Swiss Army knife.
(the 11C is in my breast pocket...It is still the most protected)..
Got all sorts of stuff this week while doing three or four other jobs..
We did 10 digs (potholes) to determine the depth of our existing lines for an upcoming waterline upgrade.
We did a very accurate TS survey along this mile of proposed line a few months ago.
Now we did the potholes, so I held the longitude to place it at the correct station and used our tape ties (back of curb) to put in the latitude..
We used our TIN from the TS survey to get the ground elevation and used the measured 'down' to get the top of pipe.
A few technology's working together.
Also tossed in a whole lot of fire hydrant updates during the week. Positions didn't change too much but sometimes they replaced a 1910 Iowa with a 2004 Mueller...Big difference to the fire guys.. Nice to know when you show up..
Updated a few FEMA marks that were in our database and if they were still there..Just a change in the database on condition, no position change..That is GIS stuff..Data stuff.
It's a tool and one that I carry every day..
What fun..
27 Degrees today was the only downside to the whole thing.

our MM has become my personal favorite. It's unbelieveable what can be done with the MM. And we haven't even touched the GIS projects we originally bought it for.
My greatest sympathies to the professional surveyors that haven't figured out how to make all this really cool technology work for them.
MM - -??

Just shorthand for Mobile Mapper..
