Locus Kinematic deal?
Posted By John Rogers on 8/13/2001 at 5:26 PM

Recently I have been offered a deal for locus kinematic and Compac IPAQ for
$12,600.
Is this price reasonable or can I better this from a dealer. Not intending to offend dealer but I thought the prices had fallen recently with the introduction of promark 2.

What can anyone tell me about this?

Great board! It's my daily survey vitamin.

Seems steep to me considering the way I usually work. I could buy two PM2 and 1 Locus w/kinematic and be just about 10K, I think.

Jimbo,

I think you would need to consider the epoch constraints of the PM2 before trying to use Locus kinematic rover with a PM2 "base". Especially if you prefer to use under 10 second epochs for kinematic. Might consider 2 locus units and a PM2 for that "lower cost" 3 unit system. It may be a winner.

Good point JD. But I think you could spend 30 seconds or a minute per point and overcome that.

I'm more likely to buy a single PM2 and "build" a base than anything else.

And actually .....
