Not sure if anyone can help out here, the local survey store hasn't been able to provide help in this matter and they tell me that they aren't getting any responses fron Thales.
My field crews have forced the connection cable into the reciever units and in turn have broken off a couple of the tines at the connection point. I've taken this into the local repair store a couple of days ago and have just gotten a call back saying that they are a sealed unit and the only way the can open it up is to break the housing and then they still aren't sure that they can repair the piece. They have ordered two new cords to replace the damaged ones, but my concern now is the recievers. with one or more of the tines missing, will this cause problems with data collection? Has anyone else come across this problem? If it is critical, any recommendations as to what can be done to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Does not sound like you are decribing a ProMark 2 receiver. Do you mean the download cradle? or the 9 pin connection at the other end of the download cradle which actually has holes not pins.
If you mean the 6 tabs around the antenna connection, Send the ProMark back to Thales for replacement. It will cost $400 if your unit is no longer under warranty. How long have you had these units? Next question, how long did the dealer have them? I bought my units from a dealer that had rented them out first. That is why I know the no warrnty price. Thales was very quick in their response on that to me.
I doubt that your survey store talked to Thales, as even if I don't know what I am talking about, they can elicit enough information to at least tell me what is up.

Ed,
The dealers will ALWAYS get a response from Thales. There is something wrong with the message.
The response may not always be what we want to hear, but never the less, a response is always given in a reasonable amount of time.
feel free to call me and talk, my number is in my profile.

Your receivers are warrantied for one year from your date of purchase, no matter how long the dealer had them on the shelf (unless they used them as demo or rental units.)
The PM2 is indeed a sealed unit, I was told there are no repairable parts inside. If a warranty repair, you get a brand new unit, no charge. If out of warranty, you get a brand new unit, for a charge.
I do not know whether we would consider your problem as warranty or abuse, so that's why you need to talk to the folks at Thales repair department in California.
The direct answer to your question is that broken or missing teeth on the SMB antenna connection can indeed cause either an antenna short or a missing antenna connection. I suggest having it addressed right away.
