when i process to cors. i use the actuall coordinate on the data sheet for my control point.

so does it really matter what i use in my coordinate scheme dialogue box? i.e. ground, local grid, geodetic, ground? and does it really matter if it set to the correct datum i.e. oklahoma state plane south 1983

and correct me if i am wrong but isnt orthometric the same as ground ?

i am interested in some reading material or some input here

There is a folder named Grid_Ground_Globe in the training folder on the ftp server at

ftp://ftp.thalesnavigation.com

The author is scheduled to be one of the instructors at the Spatial Reference Systems Seminar in Riverside, California in October. Check out the details on the web page at

http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/

The things you choose in the project settings matter very much. These should not be selected by accident nor should you accept the software defaults without some comprehension of what that means.

More instructions are as close as that help button in the software. The Ashtech Solutions manual also provides an explanation.

The NGS5 and NGS58 manuals will bring you up to date after reading the basics in Fundamentals of State Plane Coordinates.

All of this, except for a seat at that seminar, is available for the cost of your internet connection.
