To all my friends on RPLS.com
Posted By William Martin on 7/27/2001 at 12:32 PM

Today is my last day as an employee of Thales Navigation/Magellan/Ashtech.

I have truly enjoyed tremendously the discussions I have had with all of you over the past year and a half on this board. I learned a great deal from you. You provided me with the input I needed to improve on the products we offer. For that, I thank you all.

When I approached Mark Deal about a year and a half ago about generating a message board specific to Ashtech Precision Products, I had hopes that the board would transform into an unbiased forum where users could exchange ideas and help each other based on their own experiences. It has turned out better than I could have expected. We all have Mark to thank for this opportunity.

Although this is my last day on which I will post here as an official representative of Ashtech Precision Products, I fully intend to continue as an active participant, as time and my new job permits.

Thanks again for your involvement on this board. This is truly an invaluable resource for all involved, especially new users and those who are thinking about taking the plunge into what GPS technology has to offer. Please keep up the momentum.

Sincerely,

Bill Martin
Ashtech Precision Products

I hope you’ll continue to post here. Yours support and all yours answers has been really very useful for me, and I think for all Ashtech , especially Locus, users.
... a day a little sad ...

Bill--you've been an invaluable asset to many of us and I'm sure there's a much larger audience out there that has benefited from your help. Just wanted you to know how much I've appreciated being able to shoot questions at you and your timely responses. Best wishes to you in your new work. Thanks much.

One year ago we took the plunge into GPS mainly because of this board. I knew very little about GPS then and now I am learning something new all the time. You and Mark showed great foresight in developing this board and it has been beneficial to everyone envolved. Ashtech, I am sure has sold many Locus units because of testimonials on this board. Customers have the opporitunity to question techniques that manuals just can't answer in the same way. You have put a "face" on Ashtech as far as I am concerned, as opposed to corporations such as Trimble that still seem as faceless as the IRS. From the way you have dealt with us on this board and in private concerns I think you are a good guy and wish you great success in whatever the future holds for you.

Bill,

Ditto what Shawn posted above. You have been the "go to guy" in your official capacity at Ashtech, I am very grateful for the time you spent with me via the email and the phone conversations. Thales is losing one helluva a guy.
Best wishes on your future endeavours, I'm curious as to where you are going, and for sure keep us posted.
Warmest Personal Regards,
Dave Huff, MS

Bill

You got me through it, even reading your posts before we bought the Locus.
I'm sure Ashtech will be a few notches short of what they were.
Thanks and best of luck.
