Can anyone tell me if the Promark 2 in KINEMATIC mode is the same accuracy as the MobileMapper? How about with a sat lock loss and NO re-initialization?
The ProMark2 has the potential for better accuracy because the objective is a fixed solution.
The objective of the MobileMapper is either a real time solution using WAAS or a float solution using post processing. The MobileMapper software will not seek a fixed solution.
Satellite loss of lock has a greater potential to adversely affect the ProMark2 work because the intention is an initialization and a fixed solution.
The only initialization you can do with the MobileMapper is to give it a little time before you start logging a feature.
With both tools, it depends on the time and error budget. The MobileMapper is designed for GIS data capture and mapping work. It is not a survey tool. The ProMark2 is a survey tool that can be used for some limited GIS data capture and mapping work.
Both should be a part of the tool kit. Use a ProMark2 for the MobileMapper base station and use a ProMark2 antenna with MobileMapper for when the best results from the MobileMapper are needed.
When survey quality results are required the ProMark2 would do the work. This is particularly true if accurate elevations are needed.
Let me qualify my question to mean using the PM2 in KINEMATIC and in constant movement.
