Questions about the ProMark X-CM

I was wondering if anyone has a ProMark X-CM and If you did how do you like it? Also how long do you have to occupy a point to receive the different accuracies in static mode or mobile using the COORS station. I'm very curious about the cm level and the sub-meter mobile level. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Tx, I cut my teeth on those units doing soils and wetlands work as well as survey grade statics for town lines etc. They were very cost efficient in 1995 compared to other brands or even other Ashtech gear, since a two receiver setup including software and (built in) controller was $9000, while others were $15000.

BUT.....

You had to have patience. Open sites were a must for the cm processor if you wanted 2cm accuracies....There is no least squares adjustment routine in the program, so you have to use Ray Hintz's Hector the Vector package or get Ron's Star-Net GPS adjustment package, which has a Promark file format reading ability.

Statics required at least 45 minute sessions to be good at all, usually an hour was better, depending on baseline length...If I was looking for 2cm level, I kept baselines to 15 km MAX....Bringing data in from CORS sites required longer occ times for 25 to 40 km lines, like 1.5 hours, and the processor could only get them to a good float solution (+/- 10 cm).

There is NO submeter mobile level on these units. Code processing epoch by epoch will yield 2 to 3 meter results with baselines of 10 km or less from your other unit, but no better...

They will do a very nice job for you if you have the time to let them chug along....If you are looking for productivity AND accuracy, try Reliance decimeter instead...

BTW, I know of a surveyor who is probably looking to sell his pair of units....They used to be mine, and I sold them two years ago to him....bob
