Last week I set three PM2's up with two partially obstructed by trees and a building. The other was set up with a wide open view on the ice. All receivers were about two miles away from each other. The first two receivers collected 3hours of usable data with some obvious bad periods. But the receiver on the ice continuously failed to log data until the last half hour of the three hours. The number of sats and pdop continously changed every few seconds from zero to more than seven sats and good pdop. But in the first 2.5 hours +- it only logged about five minutes of data. The last half hour fortunately saved my bacon with plenty of data. But what could have caused the problem? Faulty equipment or is this something others have seen?
Whenever a receiver acts stubborn it gets a memory reset. The procedure is described in the FAQ for the ProMark2.
Runner up is a broken wire in the antenna cable or batteries that are not providing enough power to the antenna.
After that is the potential for a hardware failure in the receiver or the antenna.
Our reciever just shuts itself off/locks up and stops logging data.
We did a memory reset but that did not cure the problem.
It is now on its way back
