Two recievers that is...I am getting my first two Locus recievers next week and have some photo control to run. Before we have subcontracted our GPS work out to another surveyor and he did it mostly with the 2 bases and one rover method of static surveys...this with 3 Trimble 4600's.
I will be getting the third reciever soon after, free from Ashtech (what a sweet deal that is !!) and the new kinematic kit is on back order...so for next week it is just the 2 recievers.
One on a base and rove the other? and then base on a different point and rove the points again? or leap frog between 2 know points? this will be tied to SPC monuments...
Suggestions???
Thanks ! Tom

It just takes longer with only two..
just connect all the dots and do some
repeat observations. I've made up an
observation data sheet that we use if you don't have the handheld to record the static data, you're welcome to it if you
want.

One thing that it seems to me would dictate your procedure is whether you were trying to do the job 1 man 1 vehicle, or you have 2.
If 2 then you can leapfrom traverse start at control and tie into control. Some planning and communications required and you can add a few cross checks to strengthen it up if needed.
If you are doing it alone or only have 1 vehicle, then it would seem to me to be better to set one on a secure site and take the other around to all your stations which can include the control. The secure sight need not be control initially, but could be later if you are working in the same area again.
Then move the first receiver either to another secure site, or at a different location some distance from the first on the same secure site. Then pick up all your points in a second session, including first point for first receiver.
This second method obviously less efficient in terms of time it takes, but certainly better than going back and forth moving two receivers and worrying about security on them when they are un-manned. The secure site may be the biggest planning issue in the second scenario. I would bet that sometimes it would be easier to get someone with no particular skill to babysit one receiver that just sits there, rather than someone skilled enough to move and setup the receiver, if you don't already have someone to do it, thus you can make a site secure if you can get any help at all.
Just my thoughts.
