Firmware Update

Yesterday I went to the site ftp://ftp.ashtech.com/pub/firmware/zsurvey and I found no folder named zsurvey for firmware updates to that model. Bob LeMoine if you see this post could you help me out. I took your training class at the U of F in 1999 Bob, great training, finding out more about GPS everyday. Need some info here.

Gary,

Looks like you found the new ZB00 Firmware for your Z-Surveyors OK.

Ashtech also has a new Firmware Loading program we want you to use: "Universal Program Loader". This is an Ashtech Windows program used to install receiver Firmware into all Ashtech GPS receivers.

UPL can be downloaded from the Ashtech Web Site:
Customer Support | Access the FTP server | Software | Universal Program Loader...

The program you want to Download: "upld.zip"

Simply download - Unzip & run the setup.exe
There is readme.doc file that accompanies UPL.

Bob,
I was wondering if I can upload the new firmware ZB00 over version UF00, and not have any problems. I never have installed the UG00 software on my Z-Surveyors. Just curious before I do the installation.

Gary,

There should'nt be any problems installing the ZB00 Firmware over the UF00 Firmware currently installed in your Z-Surveyors.

Please download & Use the newer Universal Program Loader
(UPL) has described in my previous post.

If UPL fails to install ZB00, simply stay connected to the GPS receiver & click "RELOAD" from inside the UPL S/w.

Upgrading your Z-Surveyor's Receiver has several benefits:

Per the ZB00 Firmware Release Notice (uZ2001_1)for Z-Surveyor:
ZB00 is a no cost firmware update that supports the new Ashtech Survey Control II hanheld software and the Ashtech Instant RTK technology.

ZB00 can be obtained from the Ashtech FTP Site at:
ftp.ashtech.com/pub/firmware/Micro Z

The ZIP file UZ_ZB00.ZIP contains the Firmware and loading instructions.

Please download the Firmware Release Notes for complete details.
